For providing the fast setup of multiple customized testbeds, Open5GCore can be deployed either in a VMWare or in an OpenStack environment. For the OpenStack environment, Fraunhofer FOKUS OpenSDNCore provides a practical implementation of ETSI NFV Management and Orchestration (MANO) and state of the art SDN features enabling network virtualization. OpenSDNCore Rel. 2 goes beyond the current self-contained deployments, by being able to orchestrate the resources and the network for a multi-data center environment during runtime, including network functions placement, robust service chaining and integration with physical infrastructures.
The Open5GMTC (5G Machine Type Communication) Toolkit takes into consideration the drive of M2M and IOT application scenarios on the definition of the 5G infrastructure, enabling the practical testing of Industry 4.0 Industrial and Internet applications within a 5G environment. It offers advanced functionality for the device and connectivity management of a very large number of wireless devices in confined spaces and allows the establishment of appropriate instrument-oriented testing environments. An integration with the OpenMTC Toolkit enables an optional addition of standardized M2M protocols and functionalities.
For providing realistic testbed setups for a very large number of connected devices, Open5GCore integrates with OpenMTC toolkit. Apart from the specific M2M information exchange characteristics, OpenMTC includes a comprehensive device and connectivity management infrastructure enabling the remote control of connectivity of a very large number of devices, through this being able to support the research into the area of 5G devices and applications.
